Case Consultation

NOTE:  Our EMDR trainings include 10 hours of online Case Consultation (CC) as required by the EMDRAA Curriculum.  From Day One of your training you have 12 months in which to access these sessions.  If you attended your last training prior to 30 December 2024 please to not book the sessions on this page, but contact Therapist Training  to arrange access.   From 2026 most Case Consultation times are scheduled within each training group, and those dates / times will not appear on this page.   As we move to a fully integrated training model there will be fewer sessions listed on this page. 

 The EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA) has ruled that numbers in Case Consultation groups should be restricted  to 4 people per hour.    That means our previous policy of having open sessions where people did not have to present a case, but could “listen and learn”  has had to end.  So we are having to introduced a booking system and all sessions are labelled as either OPEN or CLOSED.   
OPEN groups will operate as before – anyone who trained in the last 12 months can turn up, no registration required. You don’t have to present a case, but you will learn from the advice we have for those who do ask a question.      NOTE:   Because the OPEN groups may have more people than EMDRAA has specified, if this is the case this time WILL NOT COUNT towards your Case Consultation time.   We think the limited numbers EMDRAA stipulate will restrict support to those who are starting out on their EMDR journey, but we have to comply with them.     Because so many people have told us they learn much from “lurking and listening”  to the questions of others, especially in their early stages of their EMDR journey, we will continue to offer OPEN sessions as a service to our trainees.  You may still claim the time  towards peer supervision time, but that is over to you and has nothing to do with EMDRAA requirements. 

CLOSED groups will require registration, and when the group is full, the website will say so.   In CLOSED sessions each person will have 15 minutes to present a case, and ask questions about it.  So obviously you have to be prepared for this.    If you have a simple question that doesn’t require 15 minutes to discuss, it is better you bring this to an OPEN session.  The registration system allows you to have no more than 2 CLOSED sessions booked at any time, with a gap of no less than 2 weeks between sessions.     If you have made a booking and wish to cancel it, please contact  us no later than 48 hours before your session so we can free the seat up for others.   You will get a reminder email 48 hours before your session.  If you have a last minute emergency that prevents you from taking your booked place, please advise us asap, and we will cancel your seat so it can be taken by someone else.   We don’t / can’t monitor email every minute of the day, but we will endeavour to open your place to others.     If you do not attend a booked session without advising us you will be invoiced for the consultant’s time.  If you cancel a session within 48 hours of your session starting you may be invoiced if we cannot fill your place.  

  You can start attending CC sessions from Day One of your training.  You are required to do at least 4 hours between the Introductory and  Advanced training, and the balance after attending the Advanced training.   You must log 10 hours of Case Consultation to complete your EMDR training.   This is an EMDRAA curriculum requirement.   When you have competed both the Introductory and Advanced training days , and have logged 10 hours of Case Consultation send in your log for signing.   Your EMDR Training and Case Consultation log is in your EMDR Library, Admin folder, but can be download from here.

Sessions are conducted over Zoom.  The listed times are Australian Eastern Daylight Time until 5 April, Australian Eastern Standard Time  after 5 April.   Sessions with smaller numbers may nor run for the full time listed. 
 If you live outside of NSW, VIC, TAS, ACT  you will need to adjust for the time difference.  Google “Current time in Melbourne” and work it out from there.

Each session below includes the name of the Consultant conducting the session.  This information must be included in your log, for signing purposes.
