Terms and Conditions of Service

Therapist Training (ABN 18 557 189 396) is an Australian registered business wholly-owned by Graham and Mary (Min) Taylor.  Graham takes care of the training side, Min looks after administration. Our office is located at 21 Scott Street, South Fremantle, WA 6162.

All training and supervision is provided in accord with the following Terms and Conditions of Service. It is a condition of your registration that you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms and Conditions of Service.  You will be required to formally acknowledge this during the registration process.  If you have any questions about these, contact our office.

Privacy Policy

All information we collect in relation to your registration is kept strictly secured. We use the information to confirm your eligibility to attend our workshop (e.g. Registered Health Professional status), to provide you with workshop details, training materials, personalised workshop materials, post-workshop follow up materials, and to provide you with post-workshop information.  We do not rent or sell our customer database.

Securing your information

All on-line registration and payment details are handled by our Australian shopping cart and payment gateway service eWay (https://au.myeway.com ) using the latest encryption technology approved by our bank, Westpac. No human can ever see your credit card details.

Individual registrations

Individual persons are required to register and pay at the same time, using the on-line service.  Once you complete your registration and payment you will receive an immediate email confirmation of your registration together with a receipted Tax Invoice from Register Now.  VISA and Mastercard are accepted.  Diners Club and American Express are not accepted.  Your credit card will show a charge to Therapist Training.

Payment by Instalments

You may pay the full training fee upon registration, or opt for an instalment payment plan over two or three months. If you choose an instalment payment plan you will receive one or two invoices (depending on whether you opted for a two month or three month plan) within two business days of your initial registration. Each invoice will have a due date of either one month or two months from the date of your initial registration. Invoices must be paid by the due date. If they are not, you will receive reminders. If, after two reminders, your invoice remains unpaid your place in the training may be reallocated, and all previous monies paid forfeited.

Government departments and organisations

Government Departments and organisations can reserve places for their staff by contacting the Therapist Training office with the details of the staff they want registered.  A Purchase Order must be issued, and when received the individual(s) will be registered.  The organisation will be invoiced by Therapist Training for their registrations within 3 working days and will be required to issue a Purchase Order to cover the invoice. Because we have frequently experienced long delays in receiving payment for invoiced registrations, or had registered attendees not come to the workshop without notifying Therapist Training, note that all invoiced registrations are treated as firm bookings, may not be cancelled (but substitutions may be made), and are charged at the Standard fee.

Goods and Services Tax (GST)

All transactions are in Australian dollars, and GST (10%) is applicable to all Australian training and supervision fees. The fee for non-Australian workshops is calculated on the basis of the official exchange rate prevailing when the workshop was first listed on our website. The fee is free of Australian GST, but may include GST (NZ 15% or Singapore 7%).

Therapist Training reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any workshop for which sufficient registrations are not received up to 3 weeks prior to the workshop starting date. Existing registrants will be sent a full refund, and may keep any materials sent. We cannot reimburse any expenses you may have incurred, but we will reimburse the cost of travel insurance directly related to attending this workshop, on receipt of your insurance receipt.

Attendance at Training

Participants must be present and engaged during all aspects of the training.  Should you miss more than 30 minutes total of the training you will be required to make up that time in consultation with an Accredited Consultant, at your own expense.

Participation in training exercises

A significant component of our trainings involves practising EMDR or Schema Therapy related procedures in small groups.  These practice experiences are for training purposes only and not for personal therapy.  All participants should be prepared to address real life experiences as part of their training in order to appreciate the subjective experience of the therapy as a client would, and to provide valid training experiences for other participants.  It is not unusual for a target memory to be linked to other, unexpected, disturbing memories or material, which might surface during or after the practice sessions. Trauma -related case material presented didactically, in consultation sessions, or on video may be disturbing to those with unresolved issues.  In registering for training participants affirm that they have developed appropriate self-soothing and affect/arousal management skills to cope with exposure to this type of material and will be able to employ these skills as necessary during and following training, practice and consultation sessions.

Participants with limiting or special medical conditions (e.g. hearing or sight limitations, late stage pregnancy) should discuss their situation with the trainer in advance of registering for the training, or consult their health professionals before participating in training.

Those who presently have or who have previously been diagnosed with a dissociative disorder, acute or chronic PTSD, substance use disorder, personality disorder, or an affective disorder should not participate in training without special arrangements being made with Therapist Training prior to registration.  Failure to advise Therapist Training of such issues in advance could place you at risk, negatively impact on other participants, and result in dismissal from the training without refund.

Participants who are not able to manage and regulate themselves adequately or they pose excessive distraction; or are rude or disrespectful to the trainer, staff or any other trainee; or are preventing the trainer from adequately teaching the course because of their behaviour; then Therapist Training reserves the immediate right to discontinue that participant’s right to remain in the training.  Such persons will be given one warning by the trainer and will be dismissed without refund if there is a re-occurrence. You are expected to maintain a spirit of cooperation and mutual support for all in the training. You agree that the trainer has the right to dismiss anyone who is disruptive from the training at any time without refund.

The reprocessing of targeted incidents during practicum sessions may lead to the emergence of other disturbing memories during and after the practicum. It is the responsibility of the participant to seek, obtain and pay for appropriate professional assistance if needed. Providing such assistance is not part of the training and will not be provided by Therapist Training or staff.

Grievance Process

Should any participant have questions or concerns they should contact either the trainer or consultant, with a copy to our office.  You will receive a response within the week.  Our aim is to remedy any matter that interferes with your capacity to apply in your clinical practice knowledge and skills that we have undertaken to teach in our trainings.

It is understood and agreed that neither Therapist Training, your Trainer or Accredited Consultant shall be construed as providing “supervision”, as defined by the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) to a participant.  The term “Case Consultation” refers to situations where clinical possibilities will be discussed and ideas shared in relation to clinical situations presented by the participant.  You agreed that, you, the client/patient’s therapist, is solely responsible for the clinical management of the client/patient and you are expected to exercise your best judgement in all clinical matters. We expect all participants to have regular supervision and ready access to therapeutic support if they need it.

To assure confidentiality of personal and clinical information, audio or video recording by participants is not allowed. All participants shall maintain the highest ethical standards of confidentiality regarding all personal and clinical formation shared by others in the training. When discussing client material in training or case consultation sessions it is expected that trainees will use an alias or reveal limited information such that individuals are not able to be identified.  Failure to maintain confidentiality shall be treated as a professional ethics issue and may result in immediate dismissal from the training program with no refund. Confidentiality shall apply to all consultation sessions and practicum experiences: specifics may be discussed only with members of the immediate consultation or practice group, the participant’s group consultant and trainer.

Use of copyrighted Training Materials

The training manual and other original materials provided by Therapist Training are subject to copyright.  Participants are granted a limited licence to reproduce these copyrighted materials for their personal study and use in their own clinical practice. This limited licence does not extend to the participants colleagues or employer.  The participant agrees not to distribute these materials or physical or digital copies of these materials to any other person or entity else unless they have previously received written permission from the Therapist Training.  The participant agrees that violating this limited licence without such written permission will subject the participant to full legal penalties for copyright infringement.

Changing Workshops

Because of the strictly limited numbers we run in each training, it is not possible to swap a registration to another set of dates within 28 days of the start of the live component of training, or after the first day of live training.  28 days notice gives us time to re-sell the place you vacate.  If you DO want to change training dates within 28 days of the start of a training we will sell you a place (if available) for your chosen dates for 60% of the training fee, and Therapist Training will take the 40% loss on the discounted fee. Once you have attended Day One of a training you cannot change to another training group without paying for a new seat.  At it’s absolute discretion Therapist Training may offer you a discount on a second training.

Cancellation and refund policy: EMDR Comprehensive Training

When you register for an EMDR training you receive all the materials for both the Introductory and Advanced components of this training (20+ hours of didactic instruction including readings, lectures, PowerPoint slides, videos) and a large resource library (over 1400 files), AND because of the limited places available in each training, a refund of the fee paid, less $300, will be given for cancellations received in writing or email in the period for which places are still publicly available for the training.  Once registrations have closed for your chosen dates (this happens automatically when all available places have been taken) you will receive a 220+ page personalised EMDR Training Reference Manual.  Once manuals have been distributed, any refund is at the absolute discretion of Therapist Training.  If we can resell the place a full refund of the fee paid, less $500, will be made once the place has been resold.  Cancellations made within 21 days of the scheduled start date of the workshop or after the training has commenced are not refundable under any circumstance.  Refunds cannot be made for non-attendance, for whatever reason.

A registration may be transferred in full, at no charge,  to one another person who is eligible to attend the same workshop OR you may transfer to a future EMDR workshop, provided we receive advice within 28 days of the training . We must be advised of the full details of your substitute person and you must pass onto this person all materials that you have received.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: Schema Therapy

A refund of the fee paid, less $100.00, are given for cancellations received in writing or email more than 28 days before the workshop start date.  Cancellations made within 28 days of the scheduled start date of the workshop are not refundable.

A registration may be transferred in full to one other person to attend the same workshop OR you may transfer to future Schema Therapy workshop, provided we receive advice within 21 days of the training. We must be advised of the full details of your substitute person and you must pass onto this person all materials that you have received.
